New Releases: Proxy, Tarnish, and Ink
Proxy
by Alex London
Proxy #1
Knox was born into one
of the City’s wealthiest families. A Patron, he has everything a boy
could possibly want—the latest tech, the coolest clothes, and a Proxy to
take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When
Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. And when Knox
crashes a car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced
to death.
Syd is a Proxy. His life is not his own.
Then again, neither is Knox’s. Knox and Syd have more in common than either would guess. So when Knox and Syd realize that the only way to beat the system is to save each other, they flee. Yet Knox’s father is no ordinary Patron, and Syd is no ordinary Proxy. The ensuing cross-country chase will uncover a secret society of rebels, test both boys’ resolve, and shine a blinding light onto a world of those who owe and those who pay. Some debts, it turns out, cannot be repaid.

Tarnish
by Katherine Longshore
Anne Boleyn is the odd
girl out. Newly arrived to the court of King Henry VIII, everything
about her seems wrong, from her clothes to her manners to her witty but
sharp tongue. So when the dashing poet Thomas Wyatt offers to coach her
on how to shine at court--and to convince the whole court they're
lovers--she accepts. Before long, Anne's popularity has soared, and even
the charismatic and irresistible king takes notice. More than
popularity, Anne wants a voice--but she also wants love. What began as a
game becomes high stakes as Anne finds herself forced to make an
impossible choice between her heart's desire and the chance to make
history.

Paper Gods #1
On the heels of a family tragedy, the last thing Katie Greene wants to do is move halfway across the world. Stuck with her aunt in Shizuoka, Japan, Katie feels lost. Alone. She doesn’t know the language, she can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, and she can’t seem to get the hang of taking her shoes off whenever she enters a building.
Then there’s gorgeous but aloof Tomohiro, star of the school’s kendo team. How did he really get the scar on his arm? Katie isn’t prepared for the answer. But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. If the wrong people notice, they'll both be targets.
Katie never wanted to move to Japan—now she may not make it out of the country alive.

I wish the summary gave an actual reason for why the kid who has everything suddenly wants to ditch out on society, and why the kid who's spent his life being beaten for someone else's sins would want to run away with that person. What causes their alliance? What makes Knox "realize" he wants to beat the system that benefits him, when the odds are ever in his favor? ;)
Guess I'll have to read it to find out. :)
