RTW: Love for Writing

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

Next week:
It's (the day before) Valentine's Day! Let's jumpstart the lovefest by blogging about what you love most about writing (and/or reading)!

The thing I love most about writing (besides the feeling of triumph after finishing a first draft) is the characters. I love getting to see all of these characters and letting them come to life. Sometimes I feel like I'm just writing down their story, rather than creating them. It's fascinating watching them grow and change and take courses of action that I don't agree with.

I love the feeling of a particularly good writing day when the words are just flying onto the page almost faster than I can type them. The way the rest of the world just disappears and my heart feels like it's flying and it's just me and my laptop.

That seemingly magical ability to create characters to the point where they seem real, and let them loose in your world--yes, that's cool. :)

"The way the rest of the world just disappears and my heart feels like it's flying and it's just me and my laptop." Haha, I *may* have compared writing to drugs in my post and this sounds just like what I was talking about! It's definitely a high like no other.

Aww... It's so great when the world disappears. I reckon that's when i do my best writing. Rather cool!

I love when a character's voice is so strong it makes creating them so much easier. It's almost as if they take over and start writing their story through me. Weird, I know but it just seems like something comes over me and I really believe it's my characters. They say, "Move over woman so I can tell you how my story goes" lol! Here's my RTW!

I agree about loving the characters. It's so much easier to write about characters you feel totally invested in and actually want to spend time with. Great post!

Some writing days are definitely better than others. The good days keep me going.
