What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly blog hop created by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk to help writers stay in touch.
What I'm Reading
I finished Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien last week and I was kind of surprised how much I enjoyed it. I was told as a kid that Tolkien's novels are slow and full of too much description, so I never gave them a shot. Now I'm glad I haven't continued to let that deter me, because I'm really getting into the series. I'm into The Two Towers now and would probably enjoy it more if my Tolkien professor hadn't told us that we have a quiz over Fellowship and Book 1 of Towers on Monday. In addition to that, there's also a stack of books on neurolinguistics sitting on my desk for a research paper.

What I'm Writing
Not really much of anything the past couple of weeks. I'm still making steady progress on CK's revisions, but classwork is consuming my life.

What Inspires Me
This might sound kind of strange, but the sun. I live in a place where winter equals weeks of overcast skies and snow.  We got a glimpse of that when it rained all weekend. But today the sun is out and it's actually warm outside and it's just so gorgeous.

What Else I've Been Up To
Classwork, mostly. It's midterms week around here and while I don't technically have any midterms, I do have a lot of exams and projects due. I'm seven episodes away from the last episode of Heroes and I haven't been able to watch any in a few days. That's going to be my reward this weekend for getting all of my work done.

I enjoyed THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, but had a hard time with THE TWO TOWERS. Not sure why that was exactly. Hope school is going well and that you're holding up all right. I miss it, but I don't miss the craziness of doing all the reading and papers and, and, and... Have a great week, Rachael! :-)

I really enjoyed Fellowship when I read it. I liked The Two Towers as well. It's the final book, Return of the King I really struggled with. I think it took me 6 months to get through it ^^; I really hope you enjoy them all though :D

Enjoy that sunshine. I always feel like that when we reach the end of winter and emerge into Spring. It's such a wonderful feeling.

Have a great week. Hope you get all your school work done :)

I tried reading Tolkien's novels twice and never got too far into them because I do find them slow and full of too much description lol

I'm a fall kinda gal, so I'm happy right now. Not too hot that I'm melting, not too cold that I don't want to leave the house lol

A little bit of sunshine really changes things!

Awesome that you're reading the LotRs books. I like the movies but I tend to get a bit lost in the characters. I'm not as much for high fantasy in books but I still have an inkling to read the series.

It's been a long time since I read any of the tolkiens novels and I am ashamed to say I have forgotten most of what I read. May have to pick them up again sometime.

Being inspired by the sun doesn't sound strange to me! I find it hugely inspiring, too. Good luck with the revisions and the classwork!
I used to live in Seattle, so I hear you on the whole lack of sun thing. I now live in Utah, and just seeing the sun, even when it's super-cold out, makes such a difference. I feel so much happier and more energized. Anyhow - I'm glad to hear that you're getting some sun!

Good luck with all of your coursework!
