What's Up Wednesday - November 12

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly blog hop created by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk to help writers stay in touch. This picture is very appropriate for this week. I don't think it's ever going to stop snowing.

What I'm Reading:
Still Dead to You. I haven't had time for pleasure reading in a while.

What I'm Writing:
I'm so close to the end of LP I can feel it. I have most of the remainder planned out and I can't wait to write it. Unfortunately I'm going on vacation for a week starting Saturday so it might have to wait.

What Works for Me:
Instrumental music. Sometimes I need background music to help me block out everything that's going on around me but songs with words are even more distracting. Instrumental music is the perfect combination. I really like movie soundtracks because some of them (Pacific Rim, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings) have that undertone of urgency that works as an extra motivator.

What Else I'm Up to:
Literally everything. I'm waist-deep in grad applications. Essays and presentations due within the next few weeks. The vacation is a professional one so I'll be missing a week of school. The week before Thanksgiving break. So while everyone else has two weeks of classes left, I only have one and it's very frantic.

Have a great week everyone!

Good luck! It sounds like you are in a super-exciting/super stressful time in your life. Don't forget to sleep a little!

Instrumental music is *amazing*. I've become quite the soundtrack collector over the years. The Gone Girl OST is a current fave. It's so atmospheric. Very reminiscent of the Silent Hill soundtracks.

Good luck with everything. Have a great week!
