What's Up Wednesday: February 19

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly blog hop created by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk to help writers stay in touch. It's been a week of ups and downs. I'm counting down the minutes until I get to go home for spring break. It was sunny and 30s yesterday and the same is promised for today. It's so lovely that it's almost sad how much I'm enjoying it.

What I'm Reading:
Finishing up Texaco for class this week. I'm more than ready to move on. Our professor promises that our next assigned books will be more enjoyable. I'm about a third of the way through Seraphina, most of which I read in a single afternoon when I picked it up for the library. I can't wait to be able to settle down and read it properly again.

What I'm Writing:
Last week I hoped to announce today that I'm through with Weredragon revisions. Unfortunately work got in the way so that still hasn't happened. I'm not sure what's going to happen over the next week and a half so I won't even try to make any more predictions.

What Inspires Me:
Still watching massive amounts of Olympics. I've been waking up to hockey every morning and watching ice skating in the afternoons when it's on. I tried to find a couple videos but there don't seem to be any good ones quite yet. First and foremost, USA versus Russia men's hockey. Oh my God that game was incredible. I've watched the whole game twice already and the shoot-out three times. The other video I tried to find was Jeremy Abbot's short program in ice skating. He fell on his first jump, landed hard on the ice, and stayed down for a good bit. His program after that was perfect.

What Else I've Been Up To:
I haven't had a good night's sleep in three days because of a bad toothache so it's all I can do to stay alert while I get as much work done as possible. I don't really have the energy for much else. Watching Finland/Russia hockey now. I was not expecting to find this score when I flipped the TV on.

I saw Jeremy Abbot's performance. That was quite a hard fall, and I think everyone expected him to hobble off the ice and not finish. But no--he picked himself up, dusted himself off, and finished his program. He's going to be cited as an example of pluck and determination. No-one would have blamed him for walking away. He was hurt. There was no way he was going to get the points he needed. But he went to Sochi to compete, and pain or no pain, win or lose, he was going to see it through to the end.

There's a writing lesson there, I'm sure. :)

Have a wonderful week, Rachael, and I hope you get the toothache thing resolved soon. :(

So sorry to hear about the toothache. Hope you feel much better soon.

The Olympics have been amazing and inspiring. I've never wanted to try out snowboarding so much in my entire life!

I hope your toothache goes away. I would recommend a dentist, but we live in different states so you'll probably want to find a dentist on your own.

Good luck finishing your Weredragon revisions! Even if you didn't get them done last week, you will finish them soon! Just keep at it.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
I thought Jeremy Abbott's performance was incredible! I thought for sure he was just going to skate off, but nope, he got right back up and kept going! Amazing!
I need to catch up on today's women's figure skating but I'm pretty psyched that Canada took the Gold in bobsleigh! :D

I hope your Professor is telling the truth and you get some more enjoyable reading done! Don't beat yourself up over not getting through revisions, life happens (that's my motto)!

Hey there, Rachael. Are you still having trouble sleeping because of your toothache? If the pain is constant and keeps you awake, it would be best to have experts take a look to make a proper assessment of your condition and do corresponding treatments to alleviate your pain. Take care!
