RTW -- Books for Eternity

Road Trip Wednesday is a "Blog Carnival," where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This week's topic:
In the movie "Groundhog Day," Bill Murray has to relive the same day over and over. What books would you pick to read over and over for the rest of your life?

  • The entire Harry Potter series. If I had to pick ones in particular, I'd choose Prisoner of Azkaban, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows. Because even though I've read them a hundred times since they came out, I could always read them again.
  • The entire Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. My two favorites from that series are the first book Wild Magic and the last book Realms of the Gods. That series is made of brilliance and it hasn't lost its magic since I lost track of how many times I'd read the series in middle school. (That book was in my backpack more often in those three years than it was in the library.)
  • Guyaholic by Carolyn Mackler. At some point I'm going to need a contemporary with all that fantasy and this book is so true to the teen voice and life that V feels like a real teenager.
  • The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. In my opinion, this is the best book he's ever written.
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Because it's awesome.
What books would you read over and over for the rest of your life?

I definitely agree on the HP series. I've read Vegan, Virgin, Valentine so Guyaholic is in my TBR. Glad to know it's fantastic.
I do love Harry Potter. I'm not sure I'll ever get sick of that. And The Book Thief? Loved it! I need to add your other books to my TBR list, pronto!
Excellent choices, although I have not read the Immortals series. Harry Potter is one of those series you can read again and again. (I used to feel that about the Narnia books, but they haven't held up to adult reading as well.) Still, nothing beats the Lord of the Rings, which I have read at least once a year every year since I was in 4th grade. It is frightening how many years that is, btw.

Tamora Pierce! The nostalgia! I was obsessed with her books when I was about 14. Need to revisit them soon! It's been too long!

And The Book Thief is a stunning book. I could totally read that over and over too.
