Catching Fire Review

EEK so I finished it last night around midnight. Okay, so there will be spoilers here as usual. Though hopefully this will come out more like a review instead of random fangirling like last night...

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Summary: Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his bak on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol -- a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitols cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

Review: Okay the first thing I want to say is this is probably the best book I've read since the Last Olympian. Hunger Games has risen up two spots on my top five favorite series list, bumping Twilight right off the list and knocking Inheritance down to the number five spot. And I don't even have the final book yet! *headdesk* Please let it come out soon!!! It's been a long time since I read a book that made me want to swear when talking about how awesome it is. CF is an amazing book. It made me smile, laugh, and cry all at the same time.

For the first time, I don't know if Katniss should choose Gale or Peeta. They're both perfect for her in their own way.

I almost cried when Gale was whipped and would've if it wasn't for the fact that I was at my cousin's house and didn't want to stop reading long enough to explain why I was crying.

When Katniss finds out that she has to go back into the arena, I SO did not see that coming! I was in shock for like a half hour when I found out.

The ending is a HUGE cliffhanger and left me in complete shock and tears. I can't believe the Capitol has Peeta!!!! How could she do that?! And District 13 is rebuilding and 12 is GONE. And by "GONE" I mean totally destroyed. I thought I was going to fall off the bed! The last line was amazing. I'm still having trouble thinking straight.

Oh and did anyone else figure out the thing with the mockingbird before Katniss? I did. Though their plan to bust them out of the arena went over my head until it happened. I was sure that something wasn't right about it and that I should know what it was all about, but I just couldn't puzzle it out.

Brilliance. 9.5/10

Sorry if that didn't make a lot of sense.

Good review! I did actually see them being sent back to the games before they were and I guessed at the mockingjay thing at the beginning. It still didn't make it any less amazing!! I will now be searching the internet for the release date of the last one. Does it even have a title yet?!
I was shocked about her going back in the arena as well.(the whole time I was thinking thisisnothappeningthisisnothappening)

AND THE ENDING! I can't believe she just cut off right in the middle of the action...

But I still loved it :)
